Mike Cooper is an exceptional figure among the wanderers of avant-garde music.
For the past 40 years he has been an international musical explorer, performing and recording, solo and in a number of inspired groupings (such as ‘London Musicians Collective’) and a variety of genres. Initially a folk-blues guitarist and singer/songwriter his work has diversified to include improvised and electronic music, live music for silent films, radio art and sound installations.
This is an excellent example of his work, recorded at his Athens concert on January 31st 2010. A synopsis of different techniques, including lap-steel guitar, singing and electroacoustic elements that consist an effect of improvised ‘warmness’ and balance between free improvisation and song-writting.
